Campbell Gardett
is an independent writer and communications consultant. He brings experience in incorporating communications planning and products as an integral and informing element of project development and execution. He is highly respected as a nonpartisan communications executive working at the highest levels government.
For more than 20 years he directed news operations for the Secretaries of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In addition to serving as chief news writer and editor, he oversaw two dozen other press offices in agencies of the Department. His duties also included strategic planning and acting as HHS spokesman to national media. Recent projects include formulating strategies , developing education materials, and speechwriting regarding transparency in health care, personalized health care (personalized medicine), health information technology, and, health care quality measurement. Over his long career he has also played a key role in public communications on almost every major health and human development program and issue under purview of the Department, including health care reform, biomedical research, cost control, welfare reform, and anti-fraud and waste initiatives.
He has also been a reporter and editor with the Associated Press, Senate legislative assistant and press secretary, and editor and reporter for the U.S. Army.
Mr. Gardett received his BA at Princeton University and has pursued studies at the University of Paris, France and the Instituto de Estudios Ibero-Americanos, Saltillo, Mexico
